History
LaserVue: On the leading edge since 1995
When LaserVue opened in the mid-90s, it was the first Refractive Surgery Center in Central Florida and one of the first in the country dedicated to laser vision correction.
We continue to embrace new technology and procedures in order to deliver the best results for our patients.
- LaserVue acquired the first VISX laser in Central Florida in early 1996, shortly after the FDA approved its use. This revolutionary technology enabled us to correct nearsightedness with the use of a laser that doesn’t generate any heat, and therefore doesn’t cause any tissue damage.
- LaserVue was one of the first companies in the nation to acquire the next generation of surgical technology: the Autonomous Technologies eye tracking laser, which enables the physician to accurately place the laser beam during surgery.
- LaserVue offered the first CustomCornea wavefront guided LASIK treatments in Central Florida. A beam of light takes detailed measurements of how the eye processes light and then customizes the laser treatment to each eye, reducing the most common side effects of standard laser procedures.
- The first FDA investigation site in Florida for wavefront guided LASIK.
- The first center in Central Florida to offer surgically implanted lenses, a surgical alternative to LASIK for patients seeking more permanent correction of common vision problems such as nearsightedness.
- The first center in Central Florida to use Starr Visian implantable contact lens, a flexible lens that’s placed inside the eye, protecting it from the dirt and wear-and-tear normally associated with traditional contact lenses.
- The first center in Central Florida equipped with the WaveLight Allegretto laser, currently the fastest laser for vision correction in the country.
LaserVue continues to monitor the industry for the latest innovations in LASIK, implantable contact lenses, refractive lens exchange and refractive cataract surgery. How can we help get your life in focus?
