G. Brock Magruder Jr., M.D.
Dr. Brock Magruder Jr. has been honored as one of the top LASIK surgeons in the country. He has performed refractive surgery since 1988. He has performed over 20,000 LASIK procedures at LaserVue, and has experience with three laser delivery systems.
Dr. Magruder has performed cataract surgery since 1987. He has a special interest in Refractive Cataract Surgery, in which premium implants as well as incisional and laser procedures for the treatment of astigmatism and residual refractive errors are utilized.
Dr. Magruder was an investigator for the CustomCornea® FDA LASIK trials. He has been involved with the development of this exciting technology for the last four years.
Raised in Orlando, he graduated from Trinity Preparatory School in 1976 and then Emory College with Honors in Chemistry in 1981. He subsequently attended Emory University School of Medicine obtaining his M.D. degree in 1985. He continued his internship, as well as ophthalmology residency training, at Emory where he was involved in clinical research projects and publications. He also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Magruder is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and in cataract surgery by the American Board of Eye Surgery.
In 1989, Dr. Magruder joined his father, G. Brock Magruder Sr., in private practice at the Magruder Eye Institute. He is now full time at LaserVue specializing in Lasik, Intraocular Contact Lenses, Custom Cataract Surgery and other Refractive Procedures. He is affiliated with the Lakeside Surgery Center and Orlando Regional Health Care Center. In addition, he is a member of numerous professional associations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, The International Society of Refractive Surgeons, The Keratomileusis Study Group, American Medical Association, American College of Eye Surgeons, Florida Medical Association and the Orange County Medical Society.
Dr. Magruder initiated an ongoing eye mission program in the Dominican Republic in early 2003. He leads a team that performs surgery and provides exams and glasses to those who otherwise would have no access to eye care.
He resides in Maitland with his wife and two children.
