LASIK and PRK surgery take place at the LaserVue Center. You will need a driver.
After final testing, you will meet with Dr. Magruder for last minute questions and instructions.Almost all our patients then choose to take oral Valium, which is relaxing to both mind and muscle. Twenty to forty minutes are allowed for the medication to take effect.
The procedures take about 15 minutes. Instructions are simple and easy to follow. In LASIK, there is a period of vision blurring or loss lasting about a minute. This does not occur in PRK. The corrective laser step takes less than two minutes per eye, and the whole process goes faster and is much easier than most people expect.
Vision is improved immediately, although "fuzzy" or hazy, as in a dew covered windshield. You are free to leave immediately, and we recommend a prompt nap.
Refractive Lens Exchange, Implantable Contact Lens, Custom Cataract Surgery These procedures are performed at an Outpatient Surgery Center, usually Lakeside (map). Expect to be there two hours. An anesthesiologist administers I.V. sedation. Pay attention to your instructions regarding food and liquids! The procedure is also about 15 minutes, and you are ready to leave soon afterwards. A driver is mandatory.
